Ascension Macomb-Oakland offers a complete orthopaedic surgical experience with rotations in all core subspecialties, with notably exceptional rotations in Trauma and Adult Reconstruction. ‘11, Ascension Macomb-Oakland is a balanced mix of inpatient and outpatient surgery at Level 1 Adult & Pediatric trauma centers, Level II Adult trauma centers, large community hospitals, surgical centers, and outpatient clinics. He has a passion for caring for underserved communities and seeks to bring his wealth of experience in treating substance use disorder and passion for teaching to Authority Health.Since 1972, The Ascension Macomb-Oakland Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program has been training and graduating outstanding orthopedic surgeons. Saghir has always had a passion for teaching and has taught medical students from Wayne State University School of Medicine and Michigan State University. His passion drove him to seek board certification in addiction medicine and a significant portion of his practice is now dedicated to treating substance use disorder. During his practice, he encountered a significant need for addiction medicine and became MAT waiver certified. Saghir went on to practice family medicine in and around Detroit for the past 13 years. He obtained his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in family medicine at Wayne State University as well. He was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. Hassan Saghir, MD is board certified in family medicine and addiction medicine. He hopes to use his medical and public health training to continue championing health equity in Detroit while inspiring doctors in training to provide continuity of care and the integration of health services to communities in need. Saghir plans to continue his work in graduate medical education while recruiting and training the best and brightest minds. As program director at Authority Health, Dr. He was most recently named a Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Minority Health Policy at Harvard University where he obtained his MPH in health management with a concentration in public health leadership. Saghir’s extensive experience in serving vulnerable populations in Flint, particularly during and after the Flint water crisis, compelled him to champion social, economic and health equity and further solidified his commitment to a career in public advocacy and health policy. Saghir returned to Flint where he served as Associate Program Director and Assistant Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine/McLaren-Flint Family Medicine Residency Program. Saghir went on to complete his sports medicine fellowship at Wayne State University School of Medicine/Detroit Medical Center where he provided care to Detroit’s professional sports teams. He obtained his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency training in family medicine at Michigan State University/Ascension Genesys. Hussein Saghir, DO, MPH, is board certified in family medicine, sports medicine and osteopathic manipulative treatment.
